One thing that’s great about shooting live music is the opportunity to discover the other bands on the bill. While I was at Mother’s Saloon to shoot Wicked Tongues, I was very happy to stumble on Boxcar Chief.
They’re a band from San Marcos that blends rocking Americana with the Blues. Boxcar Chief is a perfect San Diego band for fans of Gov’t Mule or the Black Crowes. These rock ‘n’ roll veterans show their experience through tasty licks and finely crafted songs. In my experience, most of the time it’s all about the notes you don’t play, and holding back a little to be tasteful pays off. Boxcar Chief demonstrated the hell out of that.
