Building a Green Screen Video Studio

I consulted for a sports broadcasting company recently where I built a green screen video studio with acoustical treatments. Normally a fabric green screen is hung from a metal frame with tripod style legs. The room is fairly shallow and adequate floor space between the screen and the host is very important, so I built a frame for the screen out of 2x2s then staple-gunned it, being careful to keep the fabric taught…tight…you know what I mean. The finished size is 11’x8′ covering most of the rear wall. Mounting it to the wall in a frame gained us 2.5′ of floor space.

The studio will be used for a live broadcast show with a host and a guest commentator, both sitting in front of the green screen wall. It’ll be a 3 camera production with a wide shot and close ups of each personality.
